Join us for a transformative learning experience on the fundamentals of Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. IFS is a powerful modality for healing and self-discovery founded by Richard Schwartz, PhD. This workshop is designed to help you understand your clients' inner landscape through the lens of Internal Family Systems. We will explore the structure, function, and relationships within the human psychological system. The course includes engaging discussions, practical exercises and insights into conducting an IFS informed session.
We will start with a didactic section overviewing the IFS model and some of its core concepts. We will explore the origins, principles and application of IFS therapy. We will explore our different internal parts - Managers, Exiles, and Firefighters - and how they interact. Then we will explore the Self, its leadership qualities and how IFS can be applied to various mental health challenges.
We will move on to a couple of demonstrations of how to start an IFS session and work with the protective system. These live demos will demonstrate IFS skills and practice. Next, we will break into dyads for direct experience practicing some of these skills, experiencing them as both a client and as a therapist. Next we’ll return for whole group sharing.
The training will end with ideas for the formation of an IFS treatment plan and interventions to guide your clients toward more inner freedom and choice. We will also briefly explore and acknowledge parts of the therapist before, during and after sessions.
My goal to teach you skills you can integrate immediately within your current practice framework.
